Background: The Metabolic Syndrome is the set of metabolic alterations made up of centrally distributed obesity, decreased concentrations of cholesterol bound to highdensity lipoproteins (HDL-C), elevated triglyceride concentrations, increased blood pressure, blood pressure and hyperglycemia. According to international studies, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome was higher in women than in men (20.7% vs. 16%); For this reason, the investigation was to determine the factors associated with the Metabolic Syndrome in patients receiving antiretroviral treatment against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus at the Regional Hospital of Cusco, 2022. Methods: An analytical observational study was carried out, being a cross-sectional study, the population consisted of 615 patients receiving antiretroviral treatment at the Regional Hospital of Cusco, from the HIV-AIDS program, the inclusion criteria were patients older than 18 years with a diagnosis of HIV infection and patients with antiretroviral treatment for more than 6 months; Likewise, patients who have dropped out, died, referred and without laboratory data were excluded. Results: the research took into account 9 possible factors associated with metabolic syndrome, among the positive factors associated with MS were: treatment time [OR:1.148 (1.063-1.240); P=000] and IMC-obesity [OR:1.229 (1.126-1.341); P=000], without finding a significant association with the factors, age, sex, treatment time, treatment scheme, tobacco consumption, consumption of fats, carbohydrates and fruits, as well as physical activity. Conclusions: the factors associated with metabolic syndrome were grouped into sociodemographic factors, therapeutic and behavioral factors, these factors have been analyzed based on the data collected from the medical records of patients receiving antiretroviral treatment against the Virus, where the therapeutic factor and behavioral has a significant relationship with metabolic syndrome [OR: 1.148 (1.063-1.240); P=000] [OR:1.148(1.063-1.240); P=000] respectively.
