This research project, called “Road Infrastructure Design for the San Miguel de Pallaques – Lanchepampa Detour Highway, San Miguel Province, Cajamarca”, is part of the Transportation Engineering research line. Its general objective is to design the road infrastructure of the aforementioned highway, which has a length of 10 km. The study covers the design of a third class highway, with a minimum road width of 6.00 meters, in accordance with the guidelines established in the DG-2018 Highway Manual. To begin the investigation, field data was collected, including topographic survey using a total station. The road was classified according to the type of rugged orography, and a soil mechanics analysis was carried out to determine the percentage of CBR (California Bearing Ratio) on the road under study. In addition, a vehicle count was carried out to evaluate the vehicle capacity and its ESAL. With all the information collected, we moved on to office work, using specialized software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D for the geometric design of the road. The flexible pavement was also designed with specific thicknesses for the asphalt layer (8 cm), the base (20 cm) and the subbase (20 cm). This design guarantees the durability and proper functioning of the road infrastructure. Finally, the works of art and signage were designed along the entire section of the road studied. This project not only seeks to satisfy the basic needs of remote communities, such as education, work, food and health, but will also have a positive impact on caring for the environment. The implementation of this road infrastructure will contribute to the improvement of connectivity and economic development of the region, promoting more efficient and safe access for residents and users
