At the beginning of 2020, the world was hit by a new pandemic, governments have focused on taking preventive measures to prevent the spread and treat those infected, using mandatory quarantine as the main measure. From this context, research focused on finding a cure for this new disease, underestimating the possible impact on mental health, although there was already evidence from previous pandemics where the repercussions of a health crisis were known. Current research recognizes a greater concern for exploring how mental health is affected during this context, for which instruments such as the Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), among others, were applied. These were applied virtually in different countries around the world; consequently, other studies have proposed interventions to reduce the psychological impact, both at group and individual level. The present study contains a documentary review of mental health and psychological intervention during three pandemics: H1N1 influenza, Ebola virus and COVID-19.
