The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between coping styles to stress and positive mental health in 86 primary and secondary school teachers in public schools in the district of San Miguel - Lima. The methodology used was quantitative and descriptive-correlational design. For this purpose, the Coping Appraisal Inventory (COPE) and the Positive Mental Health Protocol (SMP) were used. The validity of the COPE instrument was performed by Julca (2018) through expert judgment with values above .80 and reliability through the internal consistency coefficient with acceptable values: problem-focused coping (ω=.79), emotion-focused coping (ω=.86) and avoidant coping (ω=.76). The validity of the SMP protocol was conducted by Marin (2019) through exploratory factor analysis with a goodness-of-fit index of .89, mean square residual of .09, normed fit index of .83 and normed parsimony index of .77 and reliability through the omega coefficient, where inadmissible (<.65) to admissible (>.65) scores are reported. As a result, it was found that there is no relationship between stress coping styles and positive mental health (p<0.69). For the problem-focused coping style, a low relationship was found with positive mental health, for the emotion-focused coping style no correlation was obtained with positive mental health. Finally, a moderate correlation was obtained between the avoidant style and positive mental health.
