The objective of the study was to describe the epidemiological and clinical aspects of canine bite accidents registered at the Daniel Alcides Carrión Regional Surgical Clinical Teaching Hospital in the period 2016 - 2019. The information was obtained from the animal bite accident report book found in the zoonosis area of the hospital. The study variables were demographic (age, gender, district of residence and date of complaint), clinical (location, type and number of lesions) and the aggressor animal (vaccination status and origin). The data obtained were transferred to a database in the Excel program and later analyzed in the statistical program STATA 15.0. It was found that 51.5% of those injured were men. The median age was 37 years, where 75.8% were between 20 and 59 years old. Approximately 97.2% of victims came from the central macro region, with Huancayo (43.2%) and El Tambo (40.5%) the districts that presented the highest reporting frequency. The attacks were generally in the lower limbs (59.1%) and superiors (21.6%), being the only lesions (72%) and superficial (60.3%) the predominant ones. 75.6% of the injuries were considered serious. On the other hand, 51.3% of the aggressors were known; despite this, only 41.5% of the victims reported the events on the same day of the attack. No predominance was observed during the months. The results represent a contribution to local and regional health entities, who will be able to identify risk groups and invest in prevention campaigns and health education in the population; in order to reduce this public health problem.
