Pleurocollybia cibaria Singer is a wild popular edible mushroom from Cusco. It is expended at the “Q’oncha Raymi” festival and in the markets of the city of Cusco in the rainy season. Its nutritional composition is little known and its composition of minerals, vitamins and some functional property, such as its antioxidant activity, as well. Mushrooms accumulate traces of metals that are potential health hazard for consumers. For these reasons, the nutritional composition, the concentration of heavy metals and the in vitro antioxidant activity of P. cibaria Singer were reported. Regarding the nutritional composition, fresh sample contained a high proportion of moisture (79.48%) and dehydrated, a high content of carbohydrates (44.44%), proteins (23.83%), and fiber (12.73%), and of minerals Fe (30.41 mg / 100 g dry basis), F (2.37 mg / 100 g dry basis), Zn (6.77 mg / 100 g dry basis) and I (2.02 mg / 100 g dry basis). Dehydrated sample had a low content of fat (1.53%), ascorbic acid (3.27 mg / 100 g dry base) and of the mineral Ca (75.99 mg / 100 g dry base). In addition, the sample contained low concentrations of Ar (< 0.002 mg / kg dry basis), Pb (< 0.002 mg/kg dry basis), Hg (<0.001 mg / kg dry basis) and Cd (< 0.0001 mg / kg dry basis). Finally, P. cibaria Singer had an efficient in vitro antioxidant activity (IC50 < 0.0025 mg/mL) so it can be considered a functional food. Our study provides new information on the nutritional composition, safety and functional property of P. cibaria Singer to its consumption continue to be promoted.
