The first correlation between the modified Mercalli intensity (MMI) and the horizontal component of the peak ground acceleration (PGA) was developed for Perú from the regression of 360 earthquakes (2.7 <Mw <6.8) that occurred between 2016 and 2018. For each instrumentally recorded PGA, a single MMI value was assigned based on the geographic proximity of the observed PGA. A total of 683 values of the highest acceleration between the two horizontal components (PGAmax) and the average of the two horizontal components (PGAave) was associated with MMI. The obtained correlations are: IMM = 2.19 log (PGAmax) + 0.91 and IMM = 2.19 log (PGAmedia) + 1.12 for MMI I-IV and IMM = 2.97 log (PGAmax) + 0.37 and IMM = 2.73 log (PGAmedia) + 1.01 for MMI IV-VII. Based on these equations, PGA intervals were proposed for each unit of intensity. The correlation between PGAmax and MMI found in this study is almost similar to the correlation calculated by Linkimer Lepolt. (2007) for Costa Rica
