Sexual harassment in Peruvian universities, as a manifestation of violence against women, is a concern that has received little attention, that silently affects women. This problem, although it occurs daily, is not openly discussed, contributing to its invisibility. Additionally, it adds another burden to academic pressure: tolerating inappropriate and sexist attitudes and behaviors that women are forced to endure for fear of retaliation from their harassers. Historically, women's rights have not been a major concern or subject to regulation by the international community. In this context of lack of protection, the American States decided to adopt an international treaty whose main objective is to prevent, investigate, and punish violence against women: the Convention of Belém do Pará. Thus, the role of the Peruvian State as a guarantor of human rights becomes relevant, as it must ensure that universities implement mechanisms aimed at protecting women against acts of sexual harassment, through the full adoption of the Due Diligence Standard within the Peruvian legal framework. This Standard will be used as a research methodology for the analysis of the current normative regulation applicable to cases of sexual harassment in Peruvian universities. In this sense, the main objective of this Thesis is to evaluate the comprehensive implementation of the Due Diligence Standard contained in the Convention of Belém do Pará in the Peruvian regulation on sexual harassment in universities.
