The purpose of the current study was to establish the actual supply of drinking water in secondary schools in the Puente Piedra district. Although in the RNE, regulations in force in our country, it establishes values in relation to the supply of water for the design of water components for use in common buildings, including educational classrooms and student dormitories; The values indicated in this regulation are not representative of the region or type of educational center. The work consisted of monitoring the real daily consumption of drinking water in different educational centers, likewise, the consumption practices of the students were recognized and a diagnosis of the sanitary infrastructure was carried out, in order to verify the presence of water leaks, which influence a lower or higher use of water. The investigation lasted seven (07) months; of which the last four (04) months, the daily reading of the use of water in educational centers was carried out. The educational entities that were part of the investigation are twenty (20) and are divided into public and private schools, located in different areas of Puente Piedra. To obtain the results of this investigation, information was collected and meters were installed to take daily readings. Of the ten (10) public institutions surveyed, the average water consumption is 13.35 liters/person/day, equivalent to 27% of the national building codes, showing that, for educational centers with non-resident employees, the water consumption level is 50 liters/person/day. Likewise, of the ten (10) private institutions studied, the average water supply is 6.75 liters/person/day, reaching 14% of the RNE regulations. Finally, the average supply of drinking water in public and private secondary schools in the Puente Piedra area is 10.05 liters per person per day. With these results, it was concluded that the provision obtained in the present study is less than 50L/person/day, a value established in the current regulations (RNE). In addition, it is concluded that the value obtained is subject to a list of components such as the consumption habits of the students and the existence of water leaks within the institutions studied, in the present work it was found that the public secondary schools of the district of Puente Piedra are those that need to promote the care and saving of water.
