The thesis entitled “Influence of Education on the Income of the People of the Department of Huánuco - Period 2009-2015“, evaluates the incidence of investment in education in the level of income of the population in the framework of the approach of the Theory of human capital from the point of view of the quality and quantity of education. The per capita GDP of the department of Huánuco was considered as a dependent variable, and as illiteracy variables, students enrolled in primary, secondary and non-university higher education as variables of quality, number of students per teacher and by Educational centers in primary, secondary and non-university higher education; And the number of students per library. The method of ordinary least squares was used to calculate the regression and as a result of the research, the only variable that proved to be significant in the hypothesis test was the quality variable “number of students per teacher in primary education“, Which generated a greater impact on the GDP per capita of the population of the department of Huánuco. This situation is due to the fact that during the period 1999 to 2014, the cost per pupil in primary education increased 8 times, went from S/.362.00 in 1999 to S/.2,820.00 soles in 2014, allocating the greatest resources in the period 2008 to 2014. It should be noted that the expenditures per pupil in primary education during this period have been sustained. Huánuco is one of the poorest departments of Peru, most of the illiterate population live in conditions of poverty and extreme poverty, which affects their quality of life; this means that investment in education has not had a significant impact in reducing the illiteracy gap and, consequently, poverty in Huánuco.
