Path planning in industrial robotic arms, is carried out by solving equations, in which the initial state and the final state of the robotic arm are involved; to a change in these states, you need to re-enter the different data and calculate the new equations, do not have a system that automatically act in unexpected circumstances, as is the case of changing the desired final position of the end effector of the robotic arm. This thesis aims to design and implement an algorithm path planning for a robotic arm articulated five degrees of freedom using artificial vision. The algorithm contains the basic steps of an artificial vision system, the software is developed in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 using the programming language C #. The program requires having as input the images of two webcams, and the result are the Cartesian coordinates of the reference point, in order to position the end effector of the robotic arm in this reference point. The results of the efficacy test, indicate that the efficiency in positioning the end effector of the robot in space is 100%, the accuracy of positioning in space is 96.38% and the average absolute error is 1.65 cm. The obtained system is effective in the work volume in which images are captured, and maintaining a light intensity less than 50 lux on the platform of the robotic arm. The precision obtained is sufficient to take objects with a gripper, is able to solve problems requiring position the end effector of a robotic arm in order to move objects to a desired final location within the work volume.
