This is a basic research with an analytical-cross-sectional methodological design. The objective was to determine the relationship between self-medication, knowledge, and fear in the merchants, 291 merchants met the selection criteria; the instrument for data collection were previously validated questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and multivariate regression was used to measure the effect size. It was concluded that high and moderate levels of knowledge, moderate and severe fear were related to a higher prevalence of self-medication. The scores for knowledge, fear and prevalence of self-medication were relatively high in dealers. A relationship was found between certain sociodemographic characteristics and self-medication, knowledge and fear with respect to Covid-19
