The present research aimed to study the relationship between the dimensions of romantic adult attachment and ambivalent sexism in university students. For this investigation, there were 139 students from different private universities in Metropolitan Lima between 18 and 25 years old (M = 21.4, SD = 2.19) who had experienced at least one relationship. The dimensions of romantic adult attachment were evaluated using the Spanish adaptation of the Revised Scale of Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR-R) (Fraley, Waller & Brennan, 2000), and for Ambivalent Sexism the Spanish adaptation of the Inventory of Ambivalent Sexism (ASI) by Cruz, Zempoaltecatl and Correa (2005). It was found that the anxiety dimension correlated positively with benevolent sexism in women. Likewise, the avoidance dimension with hostile sexism in men. Finally, the implications of understanding attachment variables and their relationship with sexist attitudes in different ways in young women and men are discussed.
