Youth is a human group that has been reduced to an age range and defined in contrast to adulthood as the age of life, and that has not been sufficiently studied from the particularity and diversity that surrounds it. In Peru, where ethnic diversity and social inequalities frequently intersect, the histories and experiences in this group are very different. Despite this great diversity and the urgency of approaching youth to learn about their realities and direct efforts to improve living conditions from different areas, there is not enough academic production or specialized reports that collect their own voices, even more so when we refer to the population that concerns us in these pages: the Afro-Peruvian youth. On the other hand, youth activism is increasingly powerful, young people create new civil organizations, participate in collectives and groups, and participate from different spaces, physical and virtual, claiming their identity rights and history, but also claiming to the invisibility of institutions and society. Thus, starting from the life courses of young Afro-Peruvians and Afro-Peruvians, particularly those who participate in activist organizations, we will turn to their own voices to try to account for the impact that activism can have on the lives of young Afro-Peruvians and on the community. construction of your life projects.
