When population have to make informed financial decisions, financial education is crucial. According to the SBS (2019) in the National Survey of Financial Capabilities, only 37% of respondents showed adequate management of financial knowledge. This explains why financial decisions are made under the advice of non-specialists or resort to informal financial services. Considering the asymmetry of financial information and the complex structure of the financial system, these behaviors can have a counterproductive effect on economically vulnerable populations, such as micro-entrepreneurs. While financial education helps to ensure correct financial decision-making, it also helps to protect financial consumers and minimize the risk of fraud. For this reason, the objective of this thesis was to learn about the contribution of financial education in the development of financial capabilities of microentrepreneurs in the “Virgen del Carmen“ market of Rimac in the framework of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion, period 2018-2020. For this purpose, the development of financial capabilities of Microentrepreneurs after having participated in the financial education program was analyzed. Likewise, their perceptions regarding changes in their quality of life were collected. Finally, aspects of improvement for the management of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy were proposed in order to strengthen its implementation. The results of this research show that, although financial education has advantages, there are aspects of improvement that should be reinforced, such is the case of training on savings and insurance issues. Therefore, the information produced will be useful for institutions, both public and private, that play a role in financial education, to implement virtual financial education platforms, as well as the establishment of financial counseling days.
