The object of this research is an innovation teaching project in a university. It follows the line of didactic classroom interactions. The goal is to describe the authentic situations characteristics that contribute to the motion design skills development at a basic level in graphic design students of the third year of a Lima private university. The method used was action research with a qualitative approach. The categories for the analysis and interpretation of the results were Authentic Situations and Motion Design. The main conclusions were: 1) the Authentic Situations of Motion Design have the characteristic of expressing the student's point of view more than reaching communicational requirements of an audience through a video animation product. 2) Authentic Situations work with warm up situations to make the connection between what was done in previous years and what will be done in the Authentic Situation. 3) Time can be the most important but imprecise resource in the authentic situation design. It is not necessarily the same one that a student needs, in comparison to a professional, to solve a real situation.
