In Peru, approximately 46% of hospital residues are bio-contaminated. Their inadequate segregation, which has the wrong division by the assigned health professional as the focal error point, could present risks for public health and sanitation, putting the cleaning staff’s health at risk. We can comprehend the mistakes made in the management using the Health Belief Model (HBM). Trough de Emotional Design focus, following the Kanesi Engineering methodology, we can prove the effect of the materiality in the subject’s performance. Nowadays, special training focused in mitigating the problem exists, but it is not a sustainable solution throughout time. There is a lack of sensitization focused on promoting empathy towards the exposed personnel by correctly sorting the contaminated residues. JUNTOS is a systemic proposal made of bins and intuitive panels that raise awareness between the medical personnel and promote the correct segregation of bio/contaminated residues. Virtual interviews to key actors and photographic registries of the context were made, and validation studies with physical prototypes are planned to be taken in the near future. As an analysis strategy, a problem tree and an affinity diagram were constructed in order to identify the opportunity areas related to empathy fortification.
