The present research is framed in the use of the portfolio from the student's perspective. Therefore, the research problem is: What are the perceptions of 6th grade elementary school students on the use of the portfolio in the curricular area of Communication during remote education in a public educational institution in Lima? In this sense, the general objective is to analyze the perceptions of 6th grade elementary school students on the use of the portfolio in the curricular area of Communication during remote education in a public educational institution in Lima. For this purpose, two specific objectives have been proposed: first, to identify the benefits that students assign to the use of the portfolio in the curricular area of Communication, during remote education, in said educational institution; and second, to describe achievements and difficulties experienced by said students in the process of developing the portfolio in the aforementioned curricular area. The methodology used in this study is qualitative, descriptive, using the semi-structured interview as a technique and the interview guide as an instrument. The informants were six children in the 6th grade of primary education. It is concluded that the students recognize that the development of the portfolio enabled them to develop skills in various areas of knowledge, especially linguistic communication and personal development; as well as to recognize their own achievements and difficulties, which allowed them to perceive themselves as committed and self-directed students.
