The present research aims to demonstrate the correlation between the variables of body dissatisfaction and self-esteem based on the constant socially constructed beauty standards. Likewise, to delimit the degree of dissatisfaction with body image in students of the faculty of health sciences. The research methodology is of non-experimental design, directly proportional correlation. The scale used to measure body dissatisfaction was the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ: Cooper et al. 1987), which has three dimensions and for the measurement of self-esteem, the Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSE: Rosemberg1995) was one-dimensional. The sample is made up of 601 students from the Nutrition and Psychology majors who belong to the Faculty of Health Sciences of a Private University in northern Lima, between the ages of 16 to 40. A significant correlation was found between the dissatisfaction variables body and self-esteem, as shown by the statistical results obtained using the Spearman Rho statistical test, it is evidenced that the degree of relationship is strong or high negative (Correl coeff. -0.085) and the statistical significance indicates that there is a significant influence ( p = 0.038). Therefore, it is concluded that concern about weight is significantly related to self-esteem in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
