This thesis entitled “Study of the picking process for the reduction of processing times in a pharmaceutical company, Lima 2018“ The main objective of this research is to estimate how much the picking time is reduced based on the proposal in which will be identified which are the critical stages of the process, which are the dead times, will establish an action plan to mitigate the causes and finally, a cost-benefit relation of the proposal is established. This project is very important because it seeks to optimize the picking process, for it engineering tools were used as Ishikawa diagram, Pareto diagram, process analysis diagram, process operations diagram, diagram of the 5 why, and finally, an impact matrix of remedial actions and causes was also developed. For data collection was conducted by time study, interview with the head of the finished product area, supervisors and the operational staff of the picking process, which allowed to know the activities that are within the picking process as well as the causes why the process demands too much time. From the results obtained with the proposal, the average time of the picking process would be reduced from 123.3 to 49.3 minutes, which means a saving of 74 minutes in the process. There is an optimization of 60% of the number of guides attended and a considerable gain compared to the current profit.
