ABSTRACT The objective of this thesis was to determine the quality of water for human consumption in the district of Bambamarca, Cajamarca region – 2017, in four monitoring points carried out between the months of August - October, samples of natural water and drinking water were collected with a monthly frequency, in order to demonstrate the quality of the water for human consumption; For this, the physical parameters used in the field such as Electric Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Hydrogen Potential, Total Dissolved Solids, Temperature and Turbidity were used. Samples of chemical parameters such as Color, Residual Free Chlorine, Total Hardness, Total Metals were also collected. and Mercury. Likewise, microbiological parameters such as Total Coliforms and Thermotolerant Coliforms were collected. In addition, the GPS was used to determine the location of the monitoring points and proceed to the collection of physicochemical and microbiological samples. The natural water in the “Tres Chorros“ catchment (CTC) presented a slight contamination of 58 NMP/100mL for the month of August in Total Coliforms, while in the reservoirs (Reservoir R-1 and R-2) and the network of domiciliary connection (Jr. Alfonso Ugarte N° 230 – “Panificadora La Norteñita“) presents a good quality water supply to the population, being suitable for human consumption. In the physicochemical parameters the presence of heavy metals in drinking water is not shown, there is only the presence of metalloids such as calcium, magnesium and sodium in low concentrations. The average values of the physical variables taken in the field were stable with the following values: Electric Conductivity (501.08 μS/cm), Dissolved Oxygen (6.12 mg/L), pH (7.84), Dissolved Total Solids (279.17 mg/L), Temperature (19.04 °C) and Turbidity (1.35 NTU). In the average chemical and microbiological values are Total Hardness (281.01 mg/L), Residual Free Chlorine (0.75 mg 𝐶𝑙2/𝐿), Aluminum (0.028 mg/L), Boron (0.037 mg / L), Barium (0.029) mg/L), Beryllium (0.001 mg/L), Calcium (97.71 mg/L), Manganese (0.001 mg/L), Sodium (2.2 mg/L), Phosphorus (0.01 mg/L), Total Coliforms (8.50 NMP/100mL) and Thermotolerant Coliforms (3.50 NMP/100mL) evaluated in the four monitoring stations without exceeding the maximum permissible limits by the ECA Category A1. After the analysis and evaluation with the current regulations, it is determined that the greatest water affectation in the district of Bambamarca is the presence of Coliform bacteria. In conclusion, the water for human consumption used in the district of Bambamarca is within the current regulations according to Supreme Decree N° 004-2017-MINAM. Key Words: Water quality, Human consumption, Bambamarca, Coliforms.
