ABSTRACT The blending of ore on the pad is an important and critical process that most mining companies have to face, for this purpose they are continuously revised production plans making the necessary corrections and adjustments, in addition to effective management and control balance the quality and stability of the mixture should be carried out in a technical way and using the best available technology. LINGO ® (General Linear Optimizer Software) application is based on the mathematical model of linear programming called SIMPLEX and will be used as a tool for solving optimization problems mix of minerals. The objectives of this thesis consist of the application of linear programming techniques by LINGO ® in order to ensure an optimal mix of mineral and selection of areas to dig or pile of ore to be blended to meet grade restrictions and recovery. Our hypothesis of optimizing the blending process ore in the leach pad of Lagunas Norte Mine applying the software LINGO® has been confirmed by the results and the key findings are: It managed to maximize the number of ounces of gold placed on the leach pad of Lagunas Norte Mine with an additional of about 1998.289 Oz which is an increase of 2,547% in monthly production with an economic value of $ 2'629,848.24. It is possible to select with the help of software areas or piles of ore to be mixed in compliance with grade restrictions (> = 0.4 g / t) and metallurgical recovery. It was verified the use of LINGO software as a technology tool, useful for modeling and optimizing ore blending processes. LINGO is a powerful and easy to use tool that is able to efficiently solve the blending problems presented in this thesis; the field of direct application involves planning mine excavation, quality control and blendind of raw materials in the steel industry.
