--- The objective of this research was to determine whether symbolic violence influences the low academic performance of schoolchildren in primary education; there is great concern about different types of violence common in students from state schools in the Ucayali region. This study is justified because to date there has been no work to evaluate different types of violence that are objects of primary school pupils and the results will realign and teachers prevent further incidents of violence in students. The research was descriptive, quantitative approach; the population size was 230 male and female students from 9 to 12, Fifth and Sixth Grade of Primary Education. As a result there had to be two factors contributing to poor school performance, the subjects taught without the use of strategies for classroom work and the other factor is to develop a curriculum irrelevant to local conditions and the type of citizen who needed at each level of the population, 83% take violent acts as a natural part of daily life and the shouting, insults, beatings, humiliations take it naturally and it is for their good. Recommended every region of the country to design educational policies taking into account the need and interest of each level of the population and the type of citizen that is required at the site. The curriculum should be flexible, relevant, and appropriate to the type of citizen who needs the region or country. Keywords. Symbolic violence, academic performance.
