This research analyzes the translation of ethnic-racist language in the Latin American Spanish and Peninsular Spanish dubs of BlacKkKlansman (2018) to expand evidence regarding translation in the context of racist insults. Considering the audiovisual aspect of films and the sociocultural and historical barrier between the US and Latin America and Spain, the study method is qualitative-contrastive. Both dubs are compared with the English version, explaining the shift in the meaning of ethnic-racist terms and phrases, as well as identifying the use of translation techniques and indicating the degree of dependence on sociocultural, historical, and situational context. The results show the repetitive use of techniques such as generalization, adaptation, literal translation, linguistic compression, and description. When subjected to the translational process, racist slurs maintain varying levels of the original offensive meaning of ethnic-racist language in their respective dubs.
