The present research analyzes the differences and similarities in the macrotextual and microtextual structure of medical brochures/fact sheets for patients on diabetes in American English and Peruvian Spanish. The study seeks to provide a deeper understanding of how diabetes information is addressed in both languages, highlighting cultural and linguistic particularities that may influence the perception and understanding of the disease in these specific communities. Likewise, the lack of a delimitation of the genre in Spanish motivates us to characterize it in a Peruvian context. The research is based on the assumption that each culture modifies the medical brochure. In this sense, similarities and differences will be identified in terms of textual organization and understanding of the images and linguistic aspects of the medical brochure in each context. It is expected that this research will fill a gap in the literature by providing a detailed understanding of the medical brochure genre in two different cultural contexts and that, through a comparative analysis of this genre, it will contribute to the translation of medical texts and define the concept of medical brochure in Peru.
