The pandemic has had a negative impact on the performance of the metal-mechanical sector. In this context, it is advantageous for the industry to explore opportunities for improvement in related companies. As a result of this approach, an evaluation of a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) specializing in the manufacture and repair of metal parts was conducted. The analysis revealed a low level of compliance in service delivery, registering at 66%, which is below the sector standard, ranging between 85% and 90%. These deficiencies are primarily attributed to unproductive times due to extended setup times and tool searching, as well as rework caused by inappropriate welding and painting methods. This has generated significant economic impacts, resulting from overtime and penalties amounting to S/. 98,094.31. In this regard, to address these challenges and improve compliance, the implementation of three engineering tools is proposed: SMED, 5S, and standardization. As a result, a 54.55 % reduction in setup time was achieved, a 5% reduction in rework, and an increase in compliance by 83%.
