Currently there is a worldwide demand for iron, which is the raw material for steel; in Peru there is only one mining company that processes and sells this mineral. Business and sales opportunities are increasing year after year due to the great demand for this raw material. This titular company hires specialized companies to be able to meet production goals, and therefore they must meet production goals and for this the operations area must have support areas. Within these support areas is the maintenance area whose main objective is to deliver reliable equipment. The production goals of the specialized company do not reach the objective of 6 million tons per month, only 5.2 million are being delivered on average. The main cause is the low mechanical availability with 84% having a gap of 6% compared to other companies in the sector. According to the problems presented, the application of current methodologies such as TPM and its two pillars such as autonomous and planned maintenance are proposed and explained, as well as the application of the RCM methodology with its failure mode analysis tool FMEA. Within the development of this solution, the training of operations and maintenance personnel is valued, as well as supervision and what is expected is correct decision-making based on reliable data. Finally, a pilot proposal and economic analysis of the entire implementation process are carried out.
