In this document, an investigation of the maintenance process is developed as part of the production in the manufacture of glass containers, summarizing the context of its antecedents related to the problems faced by the area in question within the glass industry at a national level., which affects its production. Within this context, details are given of a national manufacturing company that, according to the analysis, has as its main problem the low availability of the container forming machine caused by the lack of an optimal maintenance plan, as well as poor quality control. contamination in said production line. As a contribution, the optimization of the maintenance plan is established based on the application of the TPM methodology with the objective of increasing the availability of the line. The novelty of the model is found in the use of two of the most widespread pillars of TPM such as (1) the planned maintenance pillar and (2) autonomous maintenance within specific sections of the packaging machinery. As results, improvements in line availability are obtained due to the reduction of unscheduled stops, which concludes that the model is effective in improving the competitiveness of the maintenance process in packaging machines.
