Introduction: Social networks (SN) are a main form of communication for young people, but their improper use could lead to addiction (Flores et al., 2017) and family discussions are an important trigger (Torbay et al., 2003). Objective: To relate addiction to social networks and family satisfaction in students of a private university in Metropolitan Lima, taking into account their gender, study cycle, number of social networks they use and how many people they live with. Method: The design was simple correlational, 100 university students participated, aged between 18 and 30 years. The Social Network Addiction Questionnaire (Escurra and Salas, 2014) and the Family Satisfaction Scale (Olson et al., 2006) adapted in Peru by Villarreal et al. (2017) were applied. Results: It was found that both variables have a statistically significant, negative and weak relationship (p-value= .018, r= -.236). Likewise, it was found that students who use 5 or more social networks have a higher level of SN Addiction. Discussion: The research findings highlight the importance of promoting functional relationships within families. However, because a correlation does not imply causation, other factors that could influence the variables studied and their relationship must be investigated.
