The anime industry over the years has managed to position itself as one of the most active industries and has established a large number of followers who will develop a bond with the anime productions they consume. This is due to various factors, one of them: the characters, especially the main ones, who carry the thread of the story. A more particular situation happen with fans, such as those belonging to the otaku subculture, who have a unique way of relating to their content, in this case anime, to the characters and stories. Likewise, changes in the development of a character can influence the viewer's relationship with it, more if these changes are complex to assimilate, such as a transformation from protagonist to antagonist. This is how we got to “Attack on Titan” and Eren Jaeger, this anime main character caused controversy for having a huge change in the last season, this generated a division between the fans, receiving acceptance and rejection, to the point of being considered a villain. Therefore, in the present work, it will be analyzed how the transformation of Eren Jaeger, the main character of the anime Attack on Titan, is related to the reception of the public belonging to the otaku subculture.
