The creation of audiovisual products involving the construction of characters of the LGBTQ+ community has increased since the 1960s. Parallel to this, the way in which these identities have been portrayed has oscillated between positive and negative characterizations. This phenomenon has been the subject of several investigations in the audiovisual translation field. Nevertheless, little research has focused on the construction and characterization of non-binary characters. Therefore, this research focuses on the analysis of the representation of non-binary identities in the Spanish dubbing and subtitling of the series Sort Of (2021), through the analysis of components found in the dialogues. This study is based on the assumption that it is possible to represent non-binary identity in the target language using strategies that maintain features of this community expressions, such as direct and indirect inclusive language and non-binary neologisms. Moreover, these strategies tend to maintain the discourse that constructs non-binary identities, such as topics that address the way in which they express themselves, difficulties in expressing their identity, the recognition of their identity within society, among others. Thus, it is proposed the implementation of a qualitative approach and a multiple case study design. Regarding data production techniques, a content and textual-contrastive analysis will be conducted, for which a bilingual corpus will also be used.
