Nowadays, the Peruvian market is facing strong eco-friendly trends that are being adopted by cosmetics consumers. Product factors as the environmental impact and the production processes are taking relevance in the purchase decision process and the consumption of cosmetics in general. This study seeks to determine the relevance of those factors in the purchasing decision of consumers in the cosmetics category in Lima. In order to elaborate this research work, a qualitative and quantitative study was carried out, using focus group techniques, in-depth interviews with the primary target audience, interviews with experts and surveys applied to the primary target audience. In a first analysis it was possible to identify that although all the consumers participating in this study had knowledge of the processes that involve animal testing and environmental damages, this is not a determining factor for their purchase. In this way, the second hypothesis could be validated, which affirmed that the processes of testing formulas in animals and the negative environmental impact have little relevance in the purchase decision. In addition, it was identified that in many cases the consumers had wrong or incomplete information.
