The objective of this research is to establish the pavement design for the recycling and resurfacing of the Talara - Tumbes highway at kilometers 128+000 - 132+250. The purpose is to achieve an effective, efficient and ecological pavement design, since the existing asphalt layer will be recycled to improve the base, thus minimizing the use of bituminous materials and reducing costs. During this study, we found that the road has a deteriorated wearing surface, with cracks and patched areas. The wearing course fluctuates between 4 and 14 cm. There is evidence of deformations in the wearing course attributable to structural deficiencies in both the pavement and the subgrade. On the berms there is a predominant surface treatment of the pavement in a regular state of preservation, which is not level with the roadway. The purpose of this project is to solve the problem of this national road, a problem that impedes the free flow of vehicles and at the same time is a potential risk for them and their occupants. For the design of the proposed flexible pavement, a traffic study was carried out during one week, for the calculation of the pavement thickness the AASHTO93 methodology will be used, in addition to the relevant soil mechanics tests for all the materials that will make up the pavement, including the recycled base with the existing asphalt layer and asphalt emulsion. Finally, a proposal for the design of the pavement, as well as the design of its components, will be prepared: Asphalt binder and base. Giving solution to the problem of this national road.
