Demonstrate that chronic use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is a protective factor for Alzheimer’s disease in patients treated in the neurology department of Hospital Victor Lazarte Echegaray in 2018. Material and methods: In a case control retrospective observational study, the authors analysed data of 352 clinical records of patients treated by the neurology department in 2018. All patients were older than 60 years, those who were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease became part of the cases. Up to three controls matched on age and gender where selected for each case. Use of chronic non-esteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) represented the exposure variable. Subsequently, the database was collected in the Microsoft Excel program, then they were analyzed with the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program and according to a descriptive analysis of the variables (qualitative nominal) and type of study to be performed, the test of Chi square, to calculate statistical difference. Results: It was determined that 25% of the cases were NSAIDs user for more than 3 years. About 37.9% of the controls were NSAIDs users. Compared with no NSAID use, the adjusted odd ratios for Alzheimer´s disease among NSAID users were 0.53 (CI 95%: 0.31 – 0.93). The grade of instruction were also associated with the Alzheimer disease, patients with low levels of education presented and odd ratio of 3.10 (IC 95%: 1.54 – 6.22). Conclusion: The chronic consume of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is a protective factor for Alzheimer’s disease
