To identify the risk factors for postoperative morbidity in radical hysterectomy for early-stage cervical cancer in female patients of the IREN during the period 2009-2019. Materials and Methods: It is based on an analytical cross-sectional study in which women assisted in the Gynecology Oncology Service of said establishment during the period 2009-2019 will be included. Data were obtained through double entry tables, using the SPSS version 25.0 program and using a chi square test. Results: In the study of 169 female patients who presented early stage cervical cancer with risk factors for postoperative morbidity of radical hysterectomy of the IREN during the period 2009 - 2019, it was found that FIGO stages IA, IB, IIA developed morbidity of 9 (5.3%), 77 (45.6%) and 5 (3.0%) respectively. In the lymph node staging of the patients, there was morbidity in 21 (12.4%) with positive nodes and 70 (41.4%) with negative nodes. In the histological type, three groups were identified (adenocarcinoma, adenosquamous and epidermoid carcinoma) with a morbidity of 16 (9.5%), 3 (1.8%) and 72 (42.6%), respectively. In the compromise of margins, 16 (9.5%) were evidenced and a group with negative margins, came to present 75 (44.4%). Finally, the complications found were present in 53.8% of patients, of which urinary tract infection represented 18.4% followed by uretero-vesical fistula, uretero-vaginal fistula and vesico vaginal fistula in 6.6%. Likewise, 5.9% were found to represent pelvic lymphocele. Conclusions: FIGO Stage IB and IIA, adenosquamous or adenocarcinoma histological type, lymph node staging, and surgical margins were risk factors associated with postoperative morbidity in radical hysterectomy for early-stage cervical cancer. In contrast, age greater than or equal to 45 years, maternal parity, menopausal status, history of pelvic surgery, parametrial involvement, and cervical tumor size were not risk factors associated with postoperative morbidity in radical hysterectomy for cancer of the cervix at an early stage.
