Cervical cancer is a public health problem; this affects many women in our region, being in the Trujillo city the main reason of death in women due to cancer. Although the screening test for cervical cancer (Pap smear) has been a strategy that has significantly reduced both the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in developed countries, the same results have not been achieved in Countries like ours. The present study aims to identify if the educational level, the level of income, and the level of knowledge are associated with attending the cervical cytology exam (Pap smear), in women between 20 and 49 years of age who attend in the Aranjuez health center, for this, a non-experimental cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational cohort investigation was made. For this end, a questionnaire-type instrument has been designed with regard to the sociodemographic characteristics of women. A test will also be applied to determine the level of knowledge about pap smear and cancer prevention measures. The sample was consisted for 156 women age 20 to 49 years who met the inclusion criteria. Data were recorded in the SPSS v 23 program to assess the degree of association, using the chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (CI), with a p value of <0.005 being considered significant. It was identified that there is no association between the level of education and the level of income with assistance to cervical cancer screening, if we find a statistically significant association between the level of knowledge and the attendance to the Cervical Cancer Screening. It is important to implement strategies to get better counseling, preventive education and catchment of women to allow access to screening with a pap smear.
