To determine if sexual behaviors: primipaternity, preconception use of condom barrier contraceptives and the time of sexual coexistence, are risk factors for pre-eclampsia in pregnant women at Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and methods: A retrospective case-control study was carried out in which 232 pregnant women were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided into 2 groups: pregnant women with or without pre-eclampsia; applying the odds ratio, and the statistical chi square test. Results: Early parenthood is a risk factor for pre-eclampsia with an odds ratio of 3.11, which was significant (p <0.05). The preconception use of barrier contraceptives is a risk factor for pre-eclampsia with an odds ratio of 3.51 which was significant (p <0.05). Sexual cohabitation time of less than 1 year is a risk factor for pre-eclampsia with an odds ratio of 2.89 which was significant (p <0.05). In the multivariate analysis through logistic regression, the significance of the risk for the factors: primipaternity, use of barrier contraceptives and time of sexual coexistence of less than one year is corroborated as risk factors for pre-eclampsia. Conclusion: Sexual behaviors: primipaternity, preconception use of barrier contraceptives, condoms and the time of sexual coexistence, are risk factors for pre-eclampsia in pregnant women at Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
