The present investigation has for general objective to determine the relation that exists between the daily childhood stress and the academic performance in students of the fifth and sixth grade of primary education of the I.E. No. 80041 “José Carlos Mariátegui“, La Esperanza - 2017. Due to its nature, this study is of a correlational descriptive type. The sample consisted of 86 children of both sexes students of fifth and sixth grade of primary education of the I.E. As instruments of data collection, the Daily Stress Inventory for Children (IECI) was used, which measures the independent variable through 3 dimensions: health and psychosomatic problems, stress in the school environment and stress in the family environment; as well as the report of the first semester of the academic year 2018 that measures the academic performance of the students. The information obtained was processed using techniques characteristic of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. With the application of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, the use of nonparametric tests was determined to determine the relationship between variables, selecting Spearman's Rho coefficient for that purpose. The results allow us to conclude that childhood stress is indirectly related (ρ = -0.749) and significantly (p <0.01) with the academic performance in students of the fifth and sixth grade of primary education of the I.E.
