The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the culture of patient safety and adherence to hand hygiene in nurses from the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases- Trujillo, the study was descriptive - correlational cross-sectional. It was applied in a sample of 25 nurses; for which the survey and observation techniques were used; using the patient safety culture questionnaire, with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.84, being reliable; likewise, the observation form of the Ministry of Health was used to assess adherence to hand hygiene. The results showed that 80% of the nurses with a medium level in the culture of patient safety do not comply with the adherence to hand hygiene, and only 16% comply with the adherence to hand hygiene. In the 5 dimensions investigated, the absence of a significant relationship with adherence to hand hygiene was identified. It was concluded that the culture of patient safety does not have a significant relationship with adherence to hand hygiene, according to X2 = 0.198 and significance level p = 0.656 in nurses.
