This thesis' main objective is to develop a controller for the pressure generated by the oxygen contained inside a hyperbaric chamber with no hermetic seal, so that it can accomplish optimally the requisites indicated by the specialists (which will be shown in chapter 1),during the treatment. For the election of the controller, experimental tests were carried out with a PIC microcontroller for the different types of control (P, PI, PD, and PID), as well as simulated tests with MATLAB's Simulink tool. Additionally, two methods for controller design were compared: Ziegler-Nichols' step response method and the root locus approach. With the obtained results, it was demonstrated that the oxygen leaks were able to be compensated, maintaining the pressure operation point constant as much as possible in accordance with the medics' specifications. Finally, it is concluded that the adequate controller for this application is the PID controller designed with Ziegler-Nichols' method due to its smaller overshoot, its smaller settling time and its error correction effect (offset elimination).
