Jachacirca Rapid is part of the Pasto Grande Canal, as a supply system in the hydraulic scheme of the Pasto Grande Special Project in the Department of Moquegua.Jachacirca Rapid is located within the hydraulic scheme of the PGSP between the exit portal of the Jachacuesta tunnel and the Humalso Reservoir in the province of Mariscal Nieto, department of Moquegua at 4,500 m.a.s.l.The following hydraulic components of the Jachacirca Rapid have been designed: a rectangular canal section, the input transition and control section, the three inclined trapezoidal sections of the rapid, the path, the steep entrance to the pond, the sink of rectangular section and an uncoated canal with a terminal control section.Using the software developed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, it has simulated the runoff and calculated the characteristics of the hydraulic profile: speed, strut, elevation of energy level and conjugated struts before and after the hydraulic jump.In addition, the following verifications have been made to the hydraulic design of the rapid, such as: Verification of flotation by effect of underpressure, Verification of hydraulic jump, Verification of the sliding force, Verification to the effect of piping and Verification to the possibility of production of waves in the rapid.The hydraulic design of the Jachacirca Rapid allows to conclude that along the three inclined sections of the trapezoidal section of the rapid, it is guaranteed that there will be no unstable flow, despite having a great length, to have two horizontal angles and three inclined sections with soft slopes.The pond designed, controls the hydraulic jump and has no flotation problems by the effect of the underpressure, due to the presence of the high-water table. Likewise, in the hydraulic design the presence of horizontal curves in the direction of the supply must be avoided as far as possible.It is recommended that in other similar studies all the verifications performed in the present thesis be developed.
