Rainforest Alliance certification was implemented in a farm dedicated to the production of pomegranate (Punica granatum) in the Ica Valley. This process included a prior evaluation through a situational diagnosis of the company and the farm to compare it with the requirementsof the regulations. Through an action plan prepared by the company, the actions for implementation, monitoring, and verification of compliance necessary to achieve certification were carried out. Initially, the company was certified in the 2017 version and in 2020 the transition to the new Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture certification program was implemented. All these processes have allowed the company to acquire new knowledge, reinvent itself, optimize agricultural processes, align itself with the environmental demands of the agricultural sector, recognizing its responsibilities and assuming environmental commitments in accordance with current national law. Likewise, it has allowed it to be more competitive to access more demanding market niches. Currently, there are great expectations with the new certification program with the obtaining of differentiated and fair prices with sustainable production. The experience in the implementation of this standard has allowed us to propose strategies and improvement plans for an expanding crop such as pomegranate, developed in an area like Ica, where the sustainable management of resources such as water areessential.
