Organic farming is an option for small producers in the Mala and Omas valleys to improve their living conditions; however, moving to certified organic farming is a complex and timeconsuming process. The objective of this research was to identify the factors that influence favoring or limiting the change from conventional agriculture to organic agriculture, which is characterized by the transformation of production systems, adoption of new practices, marketing, organization, etc. This study has found that the main reasons for change these producers are environmental care, health care, and consumer care, and better-quality production. The socio-economic characteristics of these producers have not been directly related to adoption, if it has been directly related to attendance at training courses, the NGO's support in training and advisory activities perceived as facilities by the producer, as well as the decline in yield, not to sell all production certified as organic and the lack of support from the state are perceived by the producer as difficulties in moving to organic agriculture. In relation to the characteristics of the new system, it was found that the type of crop and organic practices perceived as easy to implement are dependent factors for the adoption of organic agriculture, it is also evident that the type of organic market such as bioferias and associated marketing positively influences producers to continue certifying. Articulated work by various institutions is needed for organic producers to improve their productive management, organizational management, marketing, and access to new markets
