In this study, a systematic review of the literature examining the impact of Early Childhood Development (ECD) on adult labor outcomes is conducted, assessing 38 relevant studies. The review spans a range of methodologies, from correlational analyses to randomized trials, and underscores the importance of factors such as child health and nutrition, early education, and socioeconomic context in human capital formation. Evidence indicates that ECD interventions contribute to positive labor outcomes and social benefits, though there is significant variability in effects due to the complex interplay of multiple factors and transmission channels. The discussion acknowledges the inherent difficulty of conducting longitudinal analyses in this field, given the need for extensive controls and reliance on experimental or quasi-experimental designs to infer causality.
