The objective of this study is to analyze the link between parenting styles (ESP) and positive mental health (SMP). The instruments used were the Parenting Style scale (ESPA29) of Musitu & García and the positive mental health questionnaire (PMHQ) of LLuch. The sample consisted of 147 high schoolchildren aged between 13 and 18 years old. The data showed that the authoritative parenting style was associated with better levels of satisfaction, autonomy, problem solving and SMP. The indulgent style was associated with better levels of satisfaction, prosocial attitude, problem solving and SMP. On the other hand, authoritarian and negligent parenting styles turned out to be more harmful to SMP. The authoritarian style was associated with worse levels of satisfaction, prosocial attitude, autonomy, problem solving and SMP. The negligent style presented significant associations with high levels of autonomy and worse levels of satisfaction, prosocial attitude, problem solving and SMP.
