The objective of this research work was to determine the level of self-esteem in high school students of a public educational institution. Iquitos, 2022. the methodology was simple descriptive, not experimental. the population and sample consisted of 41 secondary school students from the secondary primary public educational institution no. 601486 “Alexander Von Humboldt“, from section “a“ morning shift and section “b“ afternoon shift, the technique used in the present the study was psychometric and the instrument was the stanley copersmith self-esteem inventory, (sei) school version, data analysis was performed using the statistical software statistical package for social sciences - spss v22. in the results it was found that 48.8% of the students obtained an average level of self-esteem, 26.8% obtained high self-esteem and only 24.4% obtained a low level of self-esteem. regarding the area “of yourself“, 43.9% of the students obtained an average level, 31.7% obtained high self-esteem and only 24.4% obtained low self-esteem, in the area “social - peers“ a 39.0% of the students obtained a high level of self-esteem, 36.6% an average level and only 24.4% obtained a low level, in the “home - parents“ area, 36.6% of the students obtained low self-esteem, 31.7% average level and 31.7% obtained a high level of self-esteem. regarding the “school“ area, 46.3% of the secondary level students of a public educational institution obtained an average level in the “school“ area, 39.0% high self-esteem level and 14.6% low level.
