The present research aimed to determine the level of coping strategies against stress in parents with children diagnosed with autism, assistants to the San Juan de Dios Clinic, 2021.with a sample of 153 parents of both sexes; the methodology was a descriptive study approach of a quantitative type, of non-experimental design, of cross-sectional section; the instrument used was the COPE 28 Inventory, the results were: At a general level it is concluded that 61.44% of parents face stress in the face of the diagnosis of autism at a moderately adequate level, It is also observed that 60.71% of male parents cope better with stress compared to the female sex with 57.83%, in relation to age the group of 60 to 69 years cope better with stress compared to the rest of the groups of age, in relation to the degree of education, 85.72% of parents who have primary education and 73.8% who have secondary education face better stress compared to other parents, with regard to marital status, 55.26% of parents with married marital status and 65.62% of cohabitants face stress at a moderately adequate level, we also observed that the group of single parents and widowers present a significant level of inadequate coping in 36.84% and 100% respectively compared to the rest of the groups; According to the evaluated indicators we find those who face stress at a moderately adequate level being the following: Active coping by 56.21%; Planning at 53.60%,Instrumental Support at 60.11%,Self-distraction at 48.37%; Use of Emotional Support in 70.59%, relief in 56.86%, Behavioral Disconnection in 56.20%, Acceptance in 60.13%, Religion in 71.89%; Substance Use in 73.86%, Positive Reinterpretation in 66.01%, Humor in 56.20%. In relation to the indicators with inadequate levels we find the following: Self-incrimination with 70.59% and Denial with 73.20%.
