Objetive: identify the factors associated with obesity and/or overweight in students of the Secondary Level in Colleges of Piura and Castilla year 2018. Material and methods: An observational, Analytical-Transversal study of prospective type for convenience was carried out. The study population consisted of 300 secondary school students from three schools in Piura and Castilla, applying the selection criteria previously established for the present investigation. We proceeded to sign informed consent by the parents and assent by the students participating in the study, later filling out the research form by parents, ending with the taking of anthropometric measurements. Results: We found 12 students with obesity that represent 4% of the total, 08 of these students are male and belong to a private school. Being male (p <0.001), not performing physical activity (p 0.045), not consuming vegetables (p <0.001), consuming soft drinks (p <0.001), and having a first degree family with obesity (p <0.001), hypertension (p <0.001) and diabetes mellitus (p <0.001), were found to be factors associated with obesity due to their significant association Conclusions: Being male, not performing physical activity, not consuming vegetables, consuming soft drinks, and having a first-degree family with obesity, hypertension and diabetes mellitus, were found to be factors associated with obesity and/or overweight due to their significant association.
