Introduction: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis are people who have a chronic inflammatory disease, little known etiology that often leads to disability, this is compounded by the presence of various factors such as age, sex, hypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking, taking medication, diabetes mellitus, among others that increase cardiovascular risk by decreasing their quality of life and as a consequence death danger. Objective: To determine the cardiovascular risk factors that occur in patients with rheumatoid arthritis seen in an outpatient clinic of Rheumatology of the Adolfo Guevara Velasco National Hospital, Cusco 2018. Materials and methods: A non-experimental, descriptive, retrospective, analytical study was carried out in external consultation of the National Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital in 2018, with a population of 677 patients and shows 95% of 207 patients attended by RA. who met the selection criteria. Reviewing the medical records, which were organized in a database, was processed in the Excel program and SPSS, version 23, to interpret the descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: RA was present in 86.0% of female patients with 49.8% of adults in middle age between 51 to 60 years, 89.9% belong to the urban area, 59.9% are married, 60.9% have a degree of superior instruction. HT was the main pathological antecedent. The time of illness was below or equal to 10 years, and between extraarticular manifestations 9.7% with dry eye. The classical modifiable cardiovascular risk factors that were observed to be elevated were: overweight 44.9%; total cholesterol 35.3%, LDL cholesterol 30.9% and triglycerides 70%; HTA 13% as well as PCR and VSG. The SCORE risk assessment showed moderate cardiovascular risk with a percentage of 56%. And, the analysis of association of the factors in relation to cardiovascular risk are: age (X2 = 78,439, p = 0.00), sex (X2 = 25.297, p = 0.00), overweight (X2 = 3.13, Tobacco (7.195, p = 0.027), HTA Grade I (X2 = 39.93, p = 0.000), diabetes mellitus (X2 = 14.09: p = 0.024), Dyslipidemia (X2 = 3.373, p = 0.018), Time of illness (X2 = 3.283, p = 0.019) ), PCR (X2 = 8.474, p = 0.014), ESR (X2 = 13.80, p = 0.013), use of DMARDs (X2 = 15.24, p = 0.022), corticosteroids (X2 = 8.483, p = 0.003) and the manifestations extraarticular (X2 = 4.530, p = 0.024). Conclusions: Female sex and age between 51 to 60 years predominated. The drugs most used were DMARDs and corticosteroids. The high-risk factors were overweight; lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides); HTA, PCR and VSG. The frequent factors associated with moderate and high cardiovascular risk were: sex, overweight, hypertension, dyslipidemia, DMARDs, corticosteroids. The population studied had a moderate cardiovascular risk according to SCORE.
