The present research work focuses on the biology, behavior and predation capacity of Chrysoperla externa fed with nymphs of the second stage of Planococcus ficus bred on Loche pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) and Peruanita potato (Solanus tuberosa), under laboratory conditions. Chrysoperla externa is a beneficial insect which is found naturally in all the Peruvian coastal region, in its larval stage it feeds on pest insects and in its adult stage consumes pollen. This insect is considered a good component of biological control for Integral Management of Pests due to its capacity to kill instantaneously its prey and feed on them. The results of the research indicate that Chrysoperla externa at a temperature of 21.15 ± 0.57°C and relative humidity of 67.33 ± 4.3% has an incubation period of 6 days, larval period of 20.49 days, pupal stage of 17.2 days making a biological cycle of 43.68 days. In addition, biological parameters such as sex ratio between female and male is 3:2, preoviposition period of 5.71 days, Oviposition of 77.43 days with a maximum oviposition capacity of 621 eggs, and males’ longevity of 75 days and females’ longevity of 91.71 days. The research showed that the behavior of Chrysoperla externa develops from 6 am until 7 pm. Finally, the predation capacity of Chrysoperla externa was counted in three generations, obtaining 454.84, 490.87 and 459.76 nymphs of the second stage of Planococcus ficus preyed by each generation at a temperature of 21.85 ± 0.57°C and relative humidity of 72.12 ± 3.63%.
